ZOAR, OH - The Eastern Ohio AED Initiative recently notified the members of the Zoar Volunteer Fire Department that they have been awarded a new Zoll Automatic External Defibulator. The Eastern Ohio AED Initiative is a non- profit organization that has teamed up with the Muskingum Lakes Chapter of the American Red Cross to raise funds in hopes of distributing 500 life saving AEDS to organizations in Carroll, Harrison and Tuscarawas Counties over the next five years.
The Zoar Volunteer Fire Department received the good news from Chad Conrad, Executive Director of the American Red Cross on March 8, 2010 and will be sending members for training as well as instructor training over the next few weeks.
With this unit, Zoar firefighters will be able to render aid to those suffering cardiac arrest at station fund raisers and public events during the time that it takes EMS units to respond.
This generous gift provided by the Eastern Ohio AED Initiative and the American Red Cross represents a major technological addition to the services provided to the residents and visitors of Zoar.
The new AED will also be featured at the Zoar Volunteer Fire Department’s 160th anniversary open house which will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2010 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
